This landmark resolution marks a positive turning point after decades of tension and halted production in the region.

The Federation’s President-General, Mr Legborsi Yamaabana, described the ongoing peace process as sincere and timely, commending the administration’s commitment to addressing the long-standing challenges of poverty and unemployment in Ogoni land.

The suspension of oil operations since the early 1990s has significantly impacted the local economy, with Shell forced to withdraw amid unrest.

Yamaabana highlighted the importance of Tinubu’s gesture of awarding national honours to the Ogoni thirteen, including the revered rights activist Mr Ledum Mitee.

This recognition was hailed as a fitting tribute to those who championed justice and equity for the Ogoni people.

Furthermore, the Federation applauded the collaborative efforts of the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the Ogoni Dialogue Committee for facilitating the crucial dialogue.

The Federation reaffirmed its unwavering support for the federal government’s initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development and economic growth in the area.
