Obidient Movement Slams Dino Melaye Over Peter Obi Comments

Obidient Movement rejects Dino Melaye’s claim that Peter Obi cannot unify Nigeria, highlighting growing public support for Obi’s vision

The Obidient Movement has criticised former senator Dino Melaye over his recent comments regarding the presidential ambition of Peter Obi, describing them as a misreading of Nigeria’s political reality.

While Melaye praised Obi as a “fantastic Nigerian” and a “great man,” he claimed that Obi “lacks the ability to unify Nigeria” and that “this is not his time.”

The movement strongly disagreed, arguing that such views ignore the growing support Obi has among Nigerians for a new political direction.

In a statement, the group emphasized that Obi’s appeal transcends ethnic, regional, and religious lines, citing his 2023 presidential election performance as evidence of broad-based support.

National Coordinator Yunusa Tanko said:

“Senator Melaye’s assertion is a tired refrain from a political establishment that has long presided over the very divisions it now claims to be the solution for. The question is not whether it is Peter Obi’s time, but whether it is time for Nigeria to break free from failed leadership, economic stagnation, and disunity. For a vast and growing movement of Nigerians, the answer is an unequivocal yes.”

The Obidient Movement rejected the idea that political gatekeepers should decide a candidate’s “time,” insisting that Nigeria’s urgent needs should guide leadership choices.
