ADC Chieftain Says Nigerians Have Suffered Under Tinubu

ADC chieftain Sabo Muhammad Nakudu says Nigerians have suffered under Tinubu and calls for sustainable relief from economic hardship

African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain and Jigawa State governorship candidate Sabo Muhammad Nakudu has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying Nigerians have suffered enough from economic hardship since the president assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Nakudu made the remarks in a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government of implementing what he described as anti-people policies and programmes.

He called for urgent measures to ease the economic pressure on ordinary Nigerians, particularly following the removal of the petrol subsidy in May 2023.

According to the ADC chieftain, the effects of the policy have continued to weigh on citizens, making more sustainable interventions necessary to address the cost-of-living crisis.

Nakudu also criticised the one-month reduction in fuel prices announced by the Tinubu administration, describing the measure as inadequate to provide lasting relief to Nigerians.

He linked the temporary price reduction to a proposal by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the ADC’s presidential candidate according to Nakudu’s statement, to restore the petrol subsidy as a way of easing the hardship facing citizens.

“The one-month reduction in fuel prices announced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration is a result of the recent proposal by the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to restore the fuel subsidy to ease the suffering of Nigerians,” Nakudu said.

The ADC chieftain’s comments add to the criticism of the Federal Government’s economic policies from opposition figures, particularly over the impact of subsidy removal on household spending and living costs.

However, the statement provided no further details on the proposed duration or implementation of a subsidy restoration plan, while Nakudu’s assessment of the government’s policies reflects his position as an opposition politician.

His call for more sustainable relief centres on the need for measures that can address the economic challenges confronting Nigerians beyond temporary fuel-price reductions.
