Labour Party support Tinubu 2027 as Abayomi Arabambi claims LP leaders, including Alex Otti, have agreed to back the president’s re-election
South-West Vice Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, on Thursday claimed that key figures within the party, including Abia State Governor Alex Otti, have reached an understanding to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 general election.

Abayomi Arabambi made the assertion during an interview on News Central, stating that discussions among party leaders had produced an internal consensus to back President Tinubu’s re-election.
According to him, the alleged arrangement is rooted in a broader political understanding that the presidency should remain in the South-West for two consecutive terms, a position he said informed recent consultations within the party hierarchy.
The Labour Party chieftain further claimed that former presidential candidate Peter Obi would not be returning to the party, insisting that internal divisions and past disagreements had permanently altered the party’s direction.
“Obi can never come back to the Labour Party,” Abayomi Arabambi said during the broadcast, while also dismissing reports suggesting ongoing efforts to reintegrate the former candidate into the party structure.
He also criticised attempts by some party figures, including Nenadi Usman, to facilitate Obi’s possible return, arguing that such efforts would not succeed amid the party’s current political alignment.
Abayomi Arabambi added that the Labour Party’s focus has shifted towards its evolving political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections, signalling what he described as a new phase for the party.
