Mahmud Jega Calls Kwankwaso’s Political Move Strategic Shift

Kwankwaso political concession described as a major shift by analyst Mahmud Jega, citing strategic implications for Nigeria’s 2027 politics

Public affairs analyst Mahmud Jega has described the recent political positioning of former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabi’u Kwankwaso, as a significant concession within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

Kwankwaso political concession comment was made on Monday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television, where Jega analysed recent developments in opposition politics and potential realignments ahead of future elections.

Jega noted that Kwankwaso’s reported willingness to support zoning the presidential ticket to the South in his new political platform, the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), represents a major strategic shift.

According to him, such a decision carries considerable political weight, especially for a figure with strong grassroots influence in a politically sensitive state like Kano.

He suggested that the former presidential candidate must have carefully consulted widely before taking such a stance, adding that it reflects calculated political planning rather than a spontaneous decision.

Kwankwaso political concession, Jega implied, could reshape alliances and influence voter alignment, particularly given Kwankwaso’s established support base and political structure.

He further observed that the former Kano governor appeared unusually calm during recent public engagements, contrasting with his widely known assertive political persona.

Jega also raised questions about whether Kwankwaso’s supporters would fully align with any new political direction, noting that leadership influence often depends on follower commitment.

He concluded that emerging political discussions, including speculation around potential alliances, could signal shifting dynamics in the build-up to future elections.
