Governor Sule stated that his earlier decision, made shortly after his Supreme Court victory, remained valid at the time but has since been challenged by widespread calls for him to continue in leadership.
He explained that many of his long-time supporters, who had worked with him for eight years, felt abandoned by his retirement plans and had directly appealed for him to stay active in politics.
According to the governor, the pressure extended beyond political circles, reaching traditional institutions and even his immediate family, creating what he described as a “difficult but humbling” situation.
In a reflective tone, Sule emphasised that his reconsideration is not driven by personal ambition, noting that he had initially looked forward to returning to private life and the corporate sector after leaving office.
However, he acknowledged that political leadership sometimes demands responsiveness to public sentiment, describing the situation as one where personal preference must be weighed against collective expectation.
The Governor Sule 2027 political reconsideration discussion has sparked renewed attention on succession dynamics within Nasarawa State and broader political calculations ahead of the next election cycle.
Sule also reiterated his commitment to allowing an open and competitive process for his successor, stressing that he would not impose any candidate for the governorship position.
