ADC Slams APC as “Shameless” Over Opposition Crisis Claims

ADC spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi accuses APC of undermining opposition parties and warns of shrinking democratic space in Nigeria

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in Abuja, launched a strong attack on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as “the most shameless government in Nigeria’s history.”

Abdullahi made the remarks in a post on his official X handle, where he accused the ruling party of undermining opposition structures and shrinking Nigeria’s democratic space.

He alleged that recent developments within the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) reflect a wider and troubling political pattern under the APC-led administration.

According to him, the PRP leadership recently paid a courtesy visit to ADC leaders, but shortly afterwards, speculation emerged about a possible coalition involving the party, which he said triggered internal tensions.

He explained that although the speculation was unfounded, it quickly led to factional disputes within the PRP, which he described as previously stable.

Abdullahi argued that the situation highlights what he called a consistent trend of interference in opposition politics, which he believes is eroding democratic balance in the country.

He said the pattern suggests a gradual narrowing of political space, warning that such developments could have long-term consequences for national stability.

While acknowledging that the government denies involvement in opposition crises, he insisted that the recurring nature of such incidents raises serious concerns.

He questioned whether there were voices within the ruling party willing to discourage what he described as destructive political behaviour.

Abdullahi further warned that a political strategy focused on weakening all opposition platforms could ultimately backfire, stressing that limiting political alternatives may lead to broader instability.

He urged reflection on the direction of Nigeria’s democratic process, describing the current trajectory as dangerous if left unchecked.
