The assurance was given by Zamfara Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mahmud Isah, during a stakeholders’ meeting on the resumption of the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise in Gusau.
Dr Isah emphasised that the success of both the CVR exercise and future elections relies on the collective efforts of all stakeholders, noting that INEC cannot deliver a credible process alone.
“I urge all stakeholders to join hands with the commission to ensure a credible election in 2027,” he said.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner also highlighted the civic responsibility of eligible Nigerians to register with INEC and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to participate in electoral activities.
Dr Isah confirmed that the commission has approved the nationwide resumption of the CVR, with online pre-registration ongoing, while physical registration at INEC local government offices is scheduled to commence on 5 January 2026.
The meeting drew attendance from traditional and political leaders, including the Emirs of Gusau and Maru, and representatives from major political parties such as the All Progressives Congress, APC, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, African Democratic Congress, ADC, Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Social Democratic Party, SDP, and the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.
Also present were members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, security agencies and media organisations, reflecting a broad consensus on the importance of transparent electoral processes.
