Responding to reports linking him to the political alliance, Sirika said: “No, I am not [part of the coalition], and I never will be.”
He revealed that even presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga had mentioned the reports during their meeting at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday.
“Yesterday, I was with Chief Bayo Onanuga in the Villa. He said I was in the coalition. I told him I was not and never will be.
He said he got that from the reports. People can join coalitions—it’s democracy.”
The opposition coalition, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform for the 2027 general elections. It claims to offer “competent, capable, and compassionate leadership.”
Other notable figures reportedly linked to the group include former Senate President David Mark, now ADC National Chairman, and ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
But Sirika denies any association, saying his visit to the Villa was unrelated to the coalition.
He noted that it was a courtesy call to offer condolences to President Tinubu over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the visit as respectful and timely.
When asked if the meeting was connected to his ongoing trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the ex-minister declined to speak, calling it “prejudicial.”
Sirika has faced allegations of awarding inflated contracts to companies linked to family members.
The EFCC’s investigation includes his daughter Fatima Sirika and son-in-law Jalal Hamma as beneficiaries of the contracts.

Despite the legal issues, Sirika maintains his innocence and says his recent public engagements are not politically motivated.
