Although full details of the tragedy remain unclear, the incident has already ignited a wave of condemnation, with former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege describing the attack as barbaric and an assault on democratic values.

The Felix Ese Idisi killing was addressed in a statement posted by Omo-Agege on Facebook, where he expressed shock at what he called a brutal murder.

He warned that the rising climate of insecurity and political hostility in the state had become intolerable, urging the Commissioner of Police in Delta State and the Inspector General of Police to quickly identify and arrest the perpetrators.

Omo-Agege insisted that individuals who previously boasted of targeting political opponents must face the full wrath of the law.

He described the attack as a chilling reminder of the dangers emerging within local political circles and emphasised that APC’s culture in Delta had never accommodated violence.

He stressed that the party’s ethos had always centred on persuasion and community engagement, warning that those attempting to introduce a destructive culture of aggression would be resisted.

He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to democracy, peace and the supremacy of the rule of law, saying the party would not be deterred by intimidation or lawlessness.
