Wike-backed PDP faction meeting set for Nov 18 as leadership crisis deepens following major expulsions
Wike-backed PDP faction meeting has intensified internal tensions as the group aligned with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, announced emergency Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee sessions scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 2025. According to a notice issued by factional National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu and circulated by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, both meetings will be held at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

The Wike-backed PDP faction meeting notice fixed the BoT session for 11:00 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2:00 p.m.
The announcement stressed the importance of attendance, noting that crucial matters would be discussed, a signal that the faction is pushing back against recent developments in the party.
This decision comes just days after the PDP, at its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, expelled several prominent members for alleged anti-party activities.
Those expelled include Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, ex-Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose and Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu.
The motion was moved by Bode George and endorsed overwhelmingly by party delegates, demonstrating a bold move to reinforce discipline within the party.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, chairing the PDP Governors’ Forum, put the expulsion motion to a voice vote, marking a decisive moment in the party’s effort to confront internal dissent.
The power struggle underscores a deeper battle over control, legitimacy and the future direction of the PDP.
