Tinubu mourns Michael Ponle, praising the late MicCom founder’s visionary leadership and lasting contributions to Nigeria’s engineering sector
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday expressed deep sadness over the death of Mr Michael Ponle, founder of MicCom Engineering Nigeria Limited, describing the late industrialist as a visionary whose contributions strengthened Nigeria’s engineering and industrial landscape.

Mr Ponle, a renowned engineer, businessman and philanthropist, died at the age of 86. He was the chairman of MicCom Wires and Cables Company and the proprietor of MicCom Golf and Resort in Ada, Osun State.
The President conveyed his condolences in a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said Mr Ponle distinguished himself through dedication, innovation and integrity, building MicCom Engineering Nigeria Limited into a reputable indigenous firm with a strong footprint in Nigeria’s industrial sector.
He noted that the late engineer played a vital role in national development by creating employment opportunities for young Nigerians and supporting economic growth through local manufacturing.
The President also highlighted Mr Ponle’s commitment to community development, describing his investments in tourism and education as evidence of a life devoted to service beyond business.
According to the statement, the establishment of the MicCom Golf and Resort in Ada contributed to local tourism, while his educational investments in Osun State helped expand access to learning and skills development.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extended his condolences to the Ponle family, as well as the management and staff of MicCom Engineering Nigeria Limited, friends and professional associates of the deceased.

He prayed for divine comfort for the family and for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed elder statesman, whose legacy of enterprise and philanthropy continues to inspire.
