In a statement on Tuesday, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede dismissed as “unprovoked and baseless” the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) claim that the agency’s recent invitations to opposition figures were politically motivated.
“If I am not condemned for investigating both former and serving strong ruling party governors and ministers,
I should not be condemned for also investigating opposition figures,” Olukoyede said, stressing that the EFCC operates above party politics.
He noted that the Commission is currently probing several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and warned that anyone found guilty would face legal consequences.
“Every corruption allegation deserves to be investigated, and there is no constraint of time or season in criminal investigations,” he added, rejecting attempts to politicize the agency’s work.
Olukoyede emphasized that “fraud is fraud” regardless of political affiliation and urged Nigerians to ignore statements designed to inflame political tensions and distract from the fight against public fund looting.
