Soludo Hails Tinubu’s Approval of Major South-East Roads

Soludo praises President Tinubu’s approval of major South-East road projects linking Anambra, Imo and Kogi, describing them as transformative

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving two major federal road projects, describing the decision as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to rebuilding the South-East through strategic infrastructure development.

Soludo made the remarks in a post published on his X account on Thursday after the Federal Government approved the design and procurement of the Otuocha, Anam, Abaji Road linking Anambra State to Kogi State, as well as the Oba, Nnewi, Uga, Ihube Road connecting Anambra and Imo states to the Enugu, Port Harcourt Expressway.

The governor described the approvals as a landmark development that would address longstanding infrastructure deficits and improve economic integration across the South-East, South-South and North-Central regions.

“I can’t contain my joy and that of my people regarding the great news from DIKESIMBA Anambra; DIKESIMBA NDIGBO, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Soludo wrote.

The governor added that the President had demonstrated a deliberate commitment to the region’s development.

“Certainly, President Tinubu has a date with history, and even more so with the South-East. He continues to demonstrate his avowed commitment to orchestrating the reconstruction of the South-East, thereby finally healing the wounds of the Civil War,” Soludo said.

According to the governor, the latest approvals build on several infrastructure projects already underway in the region and reinforce the Federal Government’s broader development agenda.

Soludo disclosed that he met with President Tinubu on July 1 to discuss the road projects. He said Minister of Works David Umahi contacted him the following day to request detailed information on the proposed roads.

The governor explained that he submitted the required details on July 3 and later received confirmation from Umahi on July 15 that President Tinubu had approved both projects for design and procurement.

Describing the roads as transformative, Soludo said they would significantly improve transportation, trade and connectivity between Anambra, Imo, Kogi and neighbouring regions.

“These two roads constitute critical game-changers for the South-East, South-South and North-Central. The man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos is certainly redefining politics, and the South-East won’t be the same again,” he said.

Soludo also said the approvals reflected the benefits of constructive engagement between state and federal governments, stressing that collaboration remains essential to delivering tangible development outcomes.

“For me personally, this is why politics makes sense to me: working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people,” the governor added.

The approvals come as the Federal Government continues to prioritise major road infrastructure projects across Nigeria to improve connectivity, facilitate trade and support economic growth.

The two newly approved corridors are expected to strengthen transport links between the South-East and other parts of the country while improving access for businesses and commuters.

Soludo concluded by thanking President Tinubu for the approvals, expressing confidence that the projects would leave a lasting impact on the region’s development.

“Thank you, Asiwaju! History will be kind to you,” the governor said.
