Edo youth condemn violence as they back government efforts to dismantle cult networks and restore peace across the state through advocacy and reforms
The Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament, Fawaz Muhammad, has said Edo youth condemn violence and support ongoing state-led efforts to stamp out cultism and kidnapping.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and made available to South-South PUNCH, Muhammad applauded the decisive actions taken by the state government, while urging security agencies to intensify efforts to dismantle cult networks across Edo.
He also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and youth leaders to amplify community advocacy, saying the fight against insecurity must be collective.
“The alarming rise in cult-related violence, kidnappings, and insecurity across Edo State poses a grave threat to peace, youth development, and the future of our communities,” he said.
“As Speaker of the Edo State Youth Parliament, I strongly condemn these acts of violence and join my voice with the Edo State Government in calling for immediate action.
Edo must rise above violence. Edo must be safe again.
“I particularly commend Governor Monday Okpebholo’s Project RISE (Resist Initiation, Securing Education) — a strategic initiative to tackle cultism through law enforcement, education, and youth empowerment.”
Muhammad urged young people to reject recruitment offers, report threats, and walk the path of peace and purpose.
“We must all rally behind this effort to reclaim our streets, campuses, and communities from the grip of fear,” he added.
He stressed that Edo youth condemn violence not just in words, but through proactive support for policies and programmes aimed at promoting a safer state.
