Edo Governor appoints new CPS as Dr Patrick Ebojele takes over to enhance state communication efforts
BENIN CITY, Nigeria, 5 December 2025: Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has appointed Dr Patrick Ebojele as the new Chief Press Secretary, according to an official statement signed by Secretary to the State Government Umar Ikhilor.

Dr Ebojele, a veteran journalist and lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, will assume the role previously held by Fred Itua.
The state government said the appointment reflects Governor Okpebholo’s determination to strengthen communication between the administration and the public.
It highlighted Dr Ebojele’s extensive background in journalism, which includes reporting roles with Channels Television, New Nigerian Newspaper, Champion Newspaper and Comet Newspapers.
Officials noted that Dr Ebojele’s experience in media practice, public affairs and academia would enhance the dissemination of government policies and improve clarity in public messaging.
The statement also acknowledged the contribution of Mr Itua, who is expected to receive a new assignment in due course.
Government insiders described the move as a strategic effort to reinforce trust and ensure the administration’s programmes are communicated with precision.
