Dumebi Kachikwu Warns Peter Obi Against Atiku Alliance in 2027

Dumebi Kachikwu warns Peter Obi against joining Atiku Abubakar for 2027, calling it politically immoral and unjust to the South’s right to presidency

Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, has issued a strong warning to Peter Obi, urging him not to join forces with Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Kachikwu described any potential Atiku-Obi alliance as politically immoral and unfair to Nigeria’s southern region.

He insisted that power should remain in the South, following eight years of northern leadership under Muhammadu Buhari.

He said, “It is morally right for anybody from a major party running in 2027 to be from the South. It is equitable. That is all we ask.”

According to Kachikwu, there is a growing push from some political figures to convince Obi to accept a vice-presidential slot under Atiku. He dismissed such plans as manipulative and dishonourable.

Kachikwu criticised what he described as a lack of clear policy direction among opposition leaders.

He noted that many were more focused on unseating President Bola Tinubu than offering real solutions.

“Have you heard these men talk about what they will do to fix our economy, infrastructure, or healthcare? All they care about is getting rid of Tinubu,” he said.

He also alleged that efforts were underway to compromise ADC state leaders with bribes as high as ₦20 million to enable a takeover of the party’s structure.

Kachikwu warned that even if such efforts succeed, the party’s constitution would prevent outsiders from hijacking leadership positions.

He challenged Atiku to publicly endorse power rotation to the South if he believes in fairness.

“If the former Vice President says my assertions are untrue, I challenge him to declare openly that equity demands the presidency stays in the South.”

Kachikwu insisted that the ADC was not for sale and would not serve as a political vehicle for failed ambitions.
