Dino Melaye Attacks Tinubu, Says Second Term Unacceptable

Dino Melaye says Nigerians reject President Bola Tinubu’s second term, accusing his administration of incompetence and misgovernance

Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has criticised President Bola Tinubu, saying Nigerians are no longer interested in a second term for the president.

Melaye made the remarks on Tuesday in a post on X, where he accused Tinubu’s administration of poor governance and incompetence.

He alleged that Nigerians could not endure another four years under what he described as a “corrupt, reckless and incompetent” government.

According to him, the country is already overstretched and cannot afford what he termed continued mismanagement at the federal level.

“Nigerians cannot afford another four years of a miserable, corrupt, reckless, incompetent and prodigal government,” Melaye wrote.

The former Kogi West senator further accused President Bola Tinubu of using politics in ways that negatively affect the lives of citizens.

He also alleged that the president was undermining democratic principles, extending his criticism to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

Melaye claimed that political leadership at different levels must be held accountable for worsening conditions in the country.

President Bola Tinubu, who won the last presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently serving his first term in office.

The comments add to growing political tension ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures continue to criticise the administration’s performance and policy direction.

The Presidency has not yet responded to Melaye’s latest remarks at the time of filing this report.
