Demola Olarewaju alleges APC uses police to guard Tinubu billboards instead of protecting Nigerians, sparking political debate
Demola Olarewaju, an aide to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of prioritising political interests over public safety, alleging that police officers are being deployed to protect campaign billboards belonging to President Bola Tinubu in Edo State.

Olarewaju made the claims while reacting to a social media post alleging that police officers were stationed around the Ring Road area of Edo State to guard Tinubu campaign billboards from vandalism, with officers reportedly working in shifts.
ADC aide, known for his outspoken political commentary, argued that such deployment reflects what he described as a troubling imbalance in the use of security resources.
Posting on X, Olarewaju alleged that the ruling party places greater emphasis on political image protection than on safeguarding citizens across the country.
“APC will rather use police officers to guard Tinubu’s campaign billboards and fortify themselves than deploy them to protect Nigerians,” he wrote.
He further criticised what he described as a broader political culture focused on power rather than policy, warning that such an approach should not be repeated in future elections.
“Tinubu’s belief in politics for the sake of power and not policy is a mistake that must not be allowed to happen again in 2027,” he added.
The claims have generated political reactions online, with supporters and critics engaging in heated debate over the alleged use of security personnel for campaign-related duties.
