Israel DMW warns Nigerians against vote trading ahead of 2027 elections, urging citizens to reject inducements and focus on credible voting

Israel DMW shared a video online showing violent scenes involving terrorists and used the post to caution citizens against accepting money or food items in exchange for their votes, describing such actions as dangerous and self-destructive.
He warned that electoral inducement undermines personal integrity and national stability, urging Nigerians to think carefully before engaging in what he called “selling their soul” for material benefits.
“Think about this, before collecting 10k, half or a full bag of rice, Indomie, to sell your soul in next year’s 2027 election,” he wrote, adding that some individuals previously labelled as terrorists had been arrested and released under claims of repentance.
Israel DMW further criticised what he described as recurring leniency towards violent actors, calling it deeply frustrating and unacceptable.
The entertainment aide has consistently commented on political participation and voting behaviour in Nigeria, previously noting that electoral outcomes are determined by ballot counts rather than social media influence.
His latest remarks come amid growing political tension ahead of the 2027 general elections, with public figures increasingly weighing in on voter behaviour, governance, and political accountability.
In recent months, several celebrities and public commentators have also expressed divergent views on political alignments, reflecting heightened political awareness and polarisation within the entertainment and social media space.
