Cross River Integrity Push as Otu Dissolves Service Board

Governor Otu launches a Cross River Integrity Push by dissolving the service board over alleged racketeering and promising a transparent fresh recruitment

According to the Cross River State Government, a firm Cross River Integrity Push began on Tuesday after Governor Bassey Otu dissolved the Board of the Local Government Service Commission following confirmed reports of employment racketeering and alleged abuse of office during its recent recruitment exercise.

In a statement issued in Calabar by his Chief Press Secretary, Linus Obogo, the Governor described the revelations as a stark betrayal of public trust and an affront to the core values expected in public service.

The compromised recruitment process, previously suspended by Otu, will remain halted until a fresh, transparent and merit-based exercise is conducted.

The Governor’s statement stressed that the unethical conduct uncovered had no place in his administration, reaffirming that corrupt practices would be met with immediate and decisive action.

He added that accountability was non-negotiable if public institutions were to retain credibility.

Otu assured residents that his administration was committed to restoring confidence in government processes and ensuring that genuine applicants receive fair consideration through due process alone.

Any individual or body found flouting established protocols, he warned, would face strict sanctions as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and uphold public confidence.
