Bode George slams Atiku Abubakar and David Mark for joining the new ADC coalition, calling their actions a betrayal of the PDP’s legacy and a weakening of the opposition.

Speaking during a televised interview on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, George expressed deep disappointment in the coalition formed ahead of the 2027 elections.
He warned that such defections weaken the opposition and cast doubt on the credibility of those involved.
“You can’t serve two masters,” George stated. “You either serve A or B. But to say you are in A and B is a fallacy.”
His comments came two days after Atiku, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Dele Momodu and others convened in Abuja to unveil the ADC as their new coalition platform.
David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola were named interim National Chairman and Secretary.
George argued that those who created the PDP’s internal crisis now use it to justify their departure.
“The real political Iroko tree… yes, we have a crisis. But they are part and parcel of the crisis,” he said.
Referring to the 2022 PDP presidential primary, George recalled how Atiku’s push to contest after President Buhari’s eight-year tenure disrupted party unity.
He blamed Mark, who chaired the convention, and Iyorchia Ayu for enabling the division.
“When Buhari had just done eight years, Atiku still wanted to contest. We said no. A northerner had just finished. But they insisted. That was the beginning of the crisis,” George said.
He dismissed the ADC coalition as lacking strategy, describing it as “nothing but existential docility.”
The PDP stalwart also criticised those leaving the party for “self-conceitedness,” saying ambition, not principle, is behind their moves.
“This house made you. It gave you recognition. And now, because of a little crisis, you abandon it?” he asked.
Despite the setback, George believes the PDP still possesses the structure to rebound.
