APC leaders receive newly elected FCT council chairmen after party wins five councils, boosting influence in Abuja local governance
The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, alongside Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council, formally received the newly elected chairmen of the Federal Capital Territory councils on Monday.

The reception followed the APC’s decisive victory in the area council elections, with party candidates winning five of the six councils.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, secured a single seat, while the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and its opposition coalition failed to gain representation.
The APC victories included the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abaji, Kuje, Bwari, and Kwali, consolidating the ruling party’s control across the territory.
In a statement shared on its official X handle, the APC confirmed that the newly elected chairmen were welcomed by party leaders, including members of the National Working Committee, highlighting the importance of effective local governance and grassroots engagement.
The event provided a platform for the council chairmen to interact with party leadership, reinforcing their mandate to implement policies that promote transparency, social development, and improved public service delivery across their respective councils.
