APC protest Osun 2026: Members reject plans to offer Governor Adeleke an automatic ticket, demanding a transparent primary for the next governorship race
A group of All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Osun State staged a peaceful protest on Friday at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo.

The protesters voiced opposition to alleged plans to grant Governor Ademola Adeleke an automatic ticket for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
They gathered at the Ogo-Oluwa headquarters, chanting slogans and carrying placards rejecting what they called “imposition” within the party.
Taofeek Afolabi, a youth leader who addressed the gathering, said: “We are not saying the party should reject Gov. Ademola Adeleke if he joins us, but he must contest fairly like every other aspirant. There should be no automatic ticket.”
Other party members present echoed his views, urging APC leaders to preserve internal democracy and ensure a transparent selection process.
A senior party official, speaking anonymously, said the demonstration came as a surprise. “This kind of protest is not acceptable because it could create the wrong impression that the demonstration was orchestrated or endorsed by the party leadership,” the source stated.
The protest lasted several hours and ended without incident.
