The event, supported by the Lagos State Agency for the Control of AIDS (LSACA), will be held under the theme: “Advancing National HIV Sustainability Agenda in the Changing Global Policy on Aid.”
The Council, established by the NACA Act of 2006, serves as Nigeria’s highest platform for coordinating HIV response efforts across sectors.
Dr Temitope Ilori, NACA’s Director-General and Chairman of the Council, highlighted the urgency of domestic leadership in HIV programming.
“As donor landscapes evolve, Nigeria must take bold steps to ensure that HIV prevention, treatment, and support remain accessible and resilient,” she said. “The Council offers us a unified platform to chart that future.”
This year’s meeting will address three technical areas:
* Advancing HIV sustainability amid global aid shifts
* Multi-sectoral strategies for health and development
* Strengthening sub-national structures and health systems
Delegates will also review progress on 12 key resolutions adopted during the previous NCA meeting.
Attendees include officials from State AIDS Control Agencies (SACAs), the Federal Ministry of Health, civil society, and donor partners.
The event will run for three days, featuring two days of technical sessions and one day of Council deliberations. A closing communiqué will outline strategic outcomes.
A special gala night hosted by the Lagos State Governor will recognise individuals and organisations contributing to Nigeria’s HIV response.
