The commissioning ceremony, which will be attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will also include six other key road projects across the state.
The announcement was made by Governor Alex Otti during a high-level security fundraising event held at the Aba Sports Club, where he addressed members of the business community and prominent stakeholders.
Otti described the Port Harcourt Road project as a symbol of his administration’s commitment to urban renewal and public accountability, and reaffirmed that security and infrastructure remain central pillars of his government’s agenda.
“Security is at the heart of everything we are doing.
And we don’t talk too much about it. But our attention to security is critical,” he said.
The governor also used the occasion to announce that the Enyimba Hotel Aba project has officially kicked off following a partnership agreement with Radisson Blu, with construction expected to begin shortly.
Addressing concerns about public funds, Otti offered strong assurances to citizens and donors alike:
“Every kobo of this money will be judiciously used and accounted for. Not one dime will be missing,” he declared.
“Sometimes people say, ‘Oh, he’s stealing money.’ But some of us can never steal. Money doesn’t go missing under my watch.”
He also dismissed any notion of political instability in the state, saying that opposition elements were merely seeking attention or positioning themselves for the 2027 general elections.
Otti urged Abians to participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise, highlighting its importance in shaping the state’s future political direction.
“Please ensure every member of your household who is of voting age registers to vote,” he appealed.
Earlier, Chief Leo Ike Okoye, who chaired the occasion, commended the governor’s track record in road rehabilitation, lighting, security, and water projects.
Other key figures in attendance, including Ide John Udeagbala, Chief Emeka Diwe, and Mazi Jude Nwosu, made donations and praised Otti’s “proactive leadership” in restoring the economic and cultural pride of Aba.
They stressed that security funding should not rest solely on the government, and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the governor’s vision.
