The announcement was made during a town hall meeting on Sunday by Health Commissioner Ekem John.

He said the action aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s directive to enforce strict compliance with health regulations, ensuring only trained professionals provide medical services in the state.

“Our people deserve safe, ethical, and professional healthcare. We will not allow illegalities to persist,” the commissioner stated. “The era of quackery is over.”

John said a joint task force has been activated to identify and remove counterfeit drugs, inspect private health facilities, and track unauthorised medical staff.

He revealed that all private hospitals, labs, and pharmaceutical facilities would soon undergo compulsory reregistration.

This move, he said, will restore confidence in the state’s health system and ensure higher standards.

He also announced the August launch of two oxygen plants at General Hospital Ukpum Abak and Emmanuel General Hospital, Eket, replacing industrial oxygen sources.
