Ajayi, who served under the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, rejoined the APC on Tuesday at his ward, Apoi Ward 2, Kiribo, in Ese Odo Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, he said his return was motivated by the desire to add value to the party and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The former deputy governor also cited the need to back Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s EASE Agenda and Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as factors influencing his decision.
He described his move as a reaffirmation of full APC membership, allowing him to participate actively in party affairs.
Drawing parallels with international politics, Ajayi noted that personal disagreements must yield to national interest. He referenced political reconciliations in Kenya, saying:
“In politics, there could be disagreements, campaigns, propaganda, and blackmail, but at the end of the day, the bigger picture is the Nigeria project. We must come together to add value to the system.”
Ajayi praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as bold and foundational for sustainable national growth.
He also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership in Ondo State, urging citizens to support government initiatives.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by his Special Adviser on Legislative and Party Affairs, Babatunde Kolawole, welcomed Ajayi’s return, calling it a major boost for the APC in Ondo.
He highlighted Ajayi’s experience, grassroots appeal, and political influence as key factors that would strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
Ondo State APC Chairman Ade Adetimehin described Ajayi as a “political bulldozer” with extensive knowledge of the state’s political landscape, stressing that the party was now well-positioned to secure strong victories for APC candidates in 2027.
