SDP candidate Adewole Adebayo criticises Tinubu’s administration ahead of 2027, citing insecurity, poverty and economic challenges
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general election, claiming the government has already lost public confidence due to ongoing national challenges.

Adebayo made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he described the Tinubu administration as outgoing and argued that its performance would shape voters’ decisions in the next election.
The SDP candidate said issues including insecurity, poverty and economic difficulties had weakened the government’s standing among Nigerians.
“With all these insecurity, hunger and bad economy, President Tinubu has already defeated himself. His administration is outgoing,” Adebayo said.
He argued that Nigerians should focus on national issues rather than political personalities as campaigns begin to take shape ahead of 2027.
According to Adebayo, his political ambition is centred on bringing Nigerians together rather than simply building an opposition alliance against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The SDP candidate said the success of the 2027 election would depend largely on citizens’ participation and confidence in the electoral process.
Adebayo’s comments come as political parties and potential presidential contenders continue to position themselves ahead of the next election cycle, with economic management, security and governance expected to remain major campaign issues.
President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, has faced criticism from opposition figures over policies including economic reforms and security challenges.
Supporters of the administration have maintained that the government is implementing long-term reforms aimed at addressing structural problems.
