Adelabu made the declaration at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan, during a gathering attended by party leaders, supporters and stakeholders from across the state.

Among those present were Chief Kunle Sanda, Chief Isiaka Alimi and Chief Wale Sanusi, alongside other prominent APC members.

Addressing the gathering, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria said his decision was motivated by a desire to deliver stronger leadership and broader development across Oyo State.

Adelabu stated that governance should produce visible results at the grassroots level, particularly in the areas of security, economic growth and public welfare.

“Firstly, I want to thank Almighty Allah. We started this journey in 2019 and I believe 2027 will be our own time,” he said.

“This declaration message goes beyond declaration. It is the summary of Adebayo Adelabu’s manifesto. Today is a day to reclaim Oyo State to genuine progress.”

The former minister also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Renewed Hope agenda, expressing confidence in the APC’s future in the state.

Speaking further, Adelabu promised to pursue practical policies that would improve living conditions and create sustainable economic opportunities for residents.

“Why am I contesting again? It is because I believe Oyo State deserves more. Oyo State deserves security and stability because governance goes beyond rhetoric,” he said.

“I am contesting because I know that I have the experience and exposure to build a greater Oyo State that is economically advanced. Good governance must be felt at the grassroots.”

The declaration marks an early boost to political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, with major parties already positioning key figures for the contest.
