In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described the RHWDP as a flagship initiative aimed at accelerating economic activities, improving livelihoods, and strengthening social protection at the community level.

According to the statement, President Tinubu approved the constitution of the programme’s National Steering Committee on 28 October. AbdulRazaq serves as Chairman of the committee, while the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, is the Vice Chairman.

The committee also includes governors representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones: Mai Mala Buni (Yobe, Northeast), Senator Douye Diri (Bayelsa, Southsouth), Prince Dapo Abiodun (Ogun, Southwest), Dr Peter Mbah (Enugu, Southeast), Dr Dikko Umar Radda (Katsina, Northwest), and Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia (Benue, Northcentral).

The NGF chairman revealed that the committee held its inaugural meeting on 29 October at the NGF Secretariat in Abuja to begin operationalising the ward-based development strategy across the nation’s 8,809 wards.

“This meeting marks a major step toward achieving the objectives of the RHWDP, which include the rollout of implementation frameworks, coordination structures, and resource mobilisation mechanisms across all tiers of government,” AbdulRazaq said.
