Adegboyega Adegoke made the claim in a statement issued on Tuesday morning in Ibadan, the state capital.
The politician, who also holds the traditional title of Aare Egbe-Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, said several of his billboards were vandalised only hours after he joined the African Democratic Congress.
Adegboyega Adegoke recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the African Democratic Congress ahead of the next governorship election in Oyo State.
According to Adegboyega Adegoke, individuals behind the destruction of the billboards may be acting out of fear of his growing popularity in the state’s political landscape.
The aspirant described the development as unfortunate but insisted that the incident would not weaken his political ambition.
“Destruction of my billboards and other illegal acts will not deter me,” Adegboyega Adegoke said in the statement.
The politician added that he remains determined to pursue his governorship aspiration despite the alleged acts of intimidation.
Observers say early political activities ahead of the next governorship race in Oyo State are beginning to intensify, with aspirants from various parties seeking to position themselves for the contest.
