ADC Ebonyi parallel congress crisis sparks APC mockery as rival factions emerge and leadership dispute deepens ahead of 2027 polls
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has mocked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following a contentious parallel state congress that produced rival leadership structures within the opposition party.

ADC factional congress, held at Preston Hotel in Abakaliki on Saturday, produced Barr. Silas Onu as one state chairman, while another faction emerged with Mrs. Jennifer Adibe Nwafor also declared as state chairman, deepening internal divisions within the party.
Speaking after his emergence, Silas Onu expressed confidence that the ADC under his leadership would challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections, insisting the opposition was poised to make significant political gains in the state.
Onu described the internal struggles within the opposition as a sign of growing influence, claiming that the calibre of individuals now driving the ADC in Ebonyi would reposition the party for electoral victory.
However, the APC leadership dismissed such claims, urging the opposition to resolve its internal disagreements before speaking about future elections.
Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi State, reacted through his Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Prince Chijioke Agwu, advising the ADC to focus on settling its leadership dispute rather than projecting electoral ambitions.
He challenged the opposition to clarify which of the rival chairmen, Silas Onu or Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, was the authentic leader of the party in the state, describing the situation as evidence of disorganisation.
APC maintained that its own structure remained stable under Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, stressing that the party was well-positioned for the 2027 elections under Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s administration.
