Reacting on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the APC of undermining Nigeria’s democracy.
In a post shared on X, he described the ruling party’s actions as an alarming display of impunity that should not be allowed to “become the death of our democracy.”
Abdullahi alleged that, despite controlling almost all state governorships, the APC remained apprehensive about conducting a free and fair election.
He warned that Nigerians would resist any form of tyranny, recalling similar situations in the country’s past.
“With this level of impunity, we pray that the APC does not become the death of our democracy,” Abdullahi said.
“Almost all the governors are in their party, yet they are afraid of a free and fair election. But Nigerians will never surrender to tyranny. We have seen this before.”

The ADC’s condemnation underscores rising tensions over the amendments to the Electoral Act, which critics argue could compromise the integrity of future elections and weaken democratic norms in Nigeria.
