ADC chieftain Ladan Salihu says APC’s fear of ADC reflects its growing influence as opposition consolidates ahead of 2027 elections
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s fear of the coalition party marks “the beginning of wisdom.”

Salihu accused the Tinubu administration and the APC of using surrogates and court actions to suggest that the ADC should be deregistered.
He claimed the ruling party attempts to dismiss the realities of endemic poverty and the challenges facing Nigerians, portraying the country as if all is well.
“Well, let me say that we expect to hear a lot of literature, a lot of prose from the minders of a failing government. They try to subsidize the truth, to make it look like Nigerians are not suffering… and to suggest that Nigeria is getting better by the day,” Salihu said.
He added that the APC’s opposition to the ADC is evidence of the coalition’s growing influence.
The party, according to Salihu, now has offices in all 36 states, has seen nine senators defect from other parties, and is consolidating opposition forces to challenge the government, which he described as having rendered Nigeria’s democracy “almost a laughing stock” internationally.
Salihu argued that the inclusion of other parties such as Zenith and Accord demonstrates the ADC’s efforts to unify opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections and strengthen its presence in the political landscape.
