Mohammed Abdulrahman pledges to heal and reposition PDP, unite members, and prepare the party for the 2027 general election
Mohammed Abdulrahman, the newly appointed Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has pledged to rebuild the party and unite all members ahead of the 2027 general election.

Abdulrahman emerged as acting chairman last Saturday following the suspension of the PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade. He addressed reporters at the party’s Abuja mini office on Monday, outlining his vision for a “new dawn” in the opposition party.
Reading from a speech titled “A New Dawn,” Abdulrahman decried the current state of the PDP, highlighting defections and internal divisions that have weakened the party over the years.
“From being the ruling party for 16 uninterrupted years to being an opposition party for over 10 years now at the national level; from being a formidable opposition to a now humbled opposition owing to the unexplainable defections of governors, legislators, and council chairmen, among others,” he said.
Abdulrahman promised to heal the party’s divisions, ensure all-inclusive congresses at all levels, and hand over to a duly elected National Working Committee once processes are completed.
He also called for collective effort, saying, “I cannot do this seemingly difficult job alone. I will need all your support, prayers, and genuine commitment to join hands in lifting our party, the PDP, upwards.”

The acting chairman concluded with a pledge to return the party to its members and the Nigerian people, promising a renaissance for the PDP in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
