Osun APC rejects Adeleke’s Tinubu campaign committee, alleging that party leaders were not consulted before its public announcement
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has rejected the inauguration of a presidential campaign committee reportedly established to coordinate support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, alleging that the process was carried out without consulting the party’s state leadership.

The party’s position was made public on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in a statement by its state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, who said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s camp failed to liaise with the APC leadership before releasing the committee’s membership to the public.
Lawal clarified that the party remained committed to supporting Tinubu’s re-election but insisted that the formation and inauguration of the campaign committee must follow established party procedures.
According to him, the state leadership was not consulted before the list was announced, raising concerns about the process through which the committee was constituted.
The APC chairman maintained that support for the President’s re-election should be organised through proper consultation and in line with the party’s guidelines.
“In as much as we consider the re-election of the national leader of our party, President Tinubu, as a collective task which we have been working vigorously and assiduously to achieve through various means, it is our view and conviction that such an exercise should be properly scheduled,” Lawal said.
He stressed that the party’s commitment to Tinubu’s re-election should not be interpreted as approval of a process that allegedly excluded its state leadership.
Lawal also stated that the committee list released to the public did not have the endorsement of the Osun APC leadership.
The development highlights a disagreement within the state’s political ranks over the organisation of the President’s re-election campaign, with the APC leadership insisting that relevant party stakeholders must be involved in decisions affecting the party’s structure and activities.
Although the Osun APC chairman reaffirmed the party’s support for Tinubu, his statement made clear that the state chapter expected greater consultation before the campaign committee could receive its approval.

The dispute comes as political parties and their supporters prepare for the 2027 general elections, with campaign structures and alliances becoming increasingly important to preparations for the polls.
