Kanu, now representing himself after dismissing his legal team led by former AGF Kanu Agabi (SAN), stated he could not proceed without reviewing crucial documents.

The court subsequently adjourned the hearing to October 27 to allow the defence time to prepare.

Prosecutor Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) noted that Kanu was scheduled to begin his defence that day.

However, with the case file inaccessible at the Department of State Services (DSS), the defence could not proceed.

Kanu also informed the court of plans to call witnesses from the United Kingdom, the United States, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

He requested permission to receive visitors over the weekend to facilitate consultation with his witnesses.

The prosecution did not object. Justice Omotosho ordered the DSS to allow the visits, ensuring Kanu could adequately prepare.
