Peter Obi warns the public against online scams using his name for commercial gain, stating he has never authorised any endorsements or business promotions.
Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate under the Labour Party, has issued a strong warning to the public over the unauthorised use of his name and image for commercial promotions and online scams.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, titled “False use of my name for online promotions,” Obi described the ongoing exploitation of his identity as “fraudulent, deceptive, and aimed solely at exploiting public trust.”
“Despite earlier clarifications issued by my aides, some persons have continued to exploit my identity for personal and commercial gain, thereby misleading unsuspecting members of the public,” Obi said.
Obi categorically stated that he has no affiliation with any online platforms, businesses, or promotional content using his name or image.
“At no time have I authorised any individual, business, or online platform to use my name, image, or identity for commercial purposes or profit-making ventures,” he added.
He emphasised that such content is not only misleading but also undermines the trust placed in public figures.
Obi further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and disregard any advertisements or social media promotions claiming to involve him in product endorsements or commercial partnerships.
“The general public is therefore strongly advised to disregard these false claims and exercise utmost caution when encountering any online content that purports to represent or involve me in business dealings,” he warned.

The former governor assured that all legitimate communication regarding his activities will be disseminated only through verified and official channels.
