Speaking in Kaduna, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), urged politicians from the Northern Region to exercise patience and wait until 2031 before pursuing the presidency.
Akume made this plea during a two-day Interactive Session on Government-Citizen Engagement, organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.
The event, themed “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-citizens’ Engagement for National Unity,” aimed to bridge the gap between government actions and public expectations.
The SGF praised President Tinubu’s administration, stating it had delivered remarkable reforms in just over two years, including improved security, revitalized agriculture, and infrastructure expansion.
“Tinubu promised impartiality in governance, and he has delivered,” Akume said. “Let’s not derail progress. Politicians from the North should wait till 2031.”
