Benue APC condemns Austin Agada after he called Governor Hyacinth Alia an ingrate and labelled two party leaders illiterates on TV
The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, condemned remarks by its former state chairman, Comrade Austin Agada, against Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and two senior party figures.

Austin Agada appeared on TVC News’ Politics Tonight on Tuesday and called Governor Hyacinth Alia an “ingrate.” He also described APC leader Hon. Prince Moses Ternenge and APC point-man Hon. Engr. Livinus Tsar as “illiterates.”
Party publicity secretary Benedict Yaweh said the comments were irresponsible, disparaging and politically divisive. The party said the language aimed at Moses Ternenge and Livinus Tsar was especially unacceptable. Professional backgrounds or humble starts, Benedict Yaweh said, do not cancel their character or their work for the APC. “Both are committed APC stakeholders who have distinguished themselves through grassroots mobilisation and service to the Party.”
The Benue APC also rejected Austin Agada’s claim that Governor Hyacinth Alia is controlled by people around him. “If he has genuine concerns about the administration, he should present facts and engage constructively rather than resort to personal attacks and derogatory remarks.”
On Austin Agada’s claim that he sold an Abuja property to fund the 2023 campaign and was not paid back, the party said that was a personal allegation that needed evidence and the proper channels, not a television studio.
His refusal to campaign for the governor in 2027, it added, was a private political choice, not a verdict on the government.
“Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and the APC in Benue State are busy strategising, consulting, mobilising and consolidating support for the victory of our Party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections,” the statement said. “We have no time to be distracted by individuals whose current political differences have placed them outside the direction of the Party.”
The chapter said it was still open to reconciliation and asked aggrieved members to put the 2027 ticket for Governor Hyacinth Alia, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates above personal grudges.

The statement is a party defence, not a court finding. Austin Agada’s TV words are on record. The property and “control” claims remain untested in the account published so far.
