Former Deputy Senate President Blames APC for Delta State Rift

Omo-Agege APC Exit Claim sees former Deputy Senate President allege APC abandoned him and 240,000 supporters in Delta State

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, asserted that he has not left the All Progressives Congress, APC, insisting instead that the party effectively abandoned him and his supporters in Delta State.

Omo-Agege made the claim during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he stated that the APC had left behind what he described as a significant political base of over 240,000 supporters in the state.

He dominated his remarks as he maintained that his political loyalty remained unchanged despite ongoing realignments within Delta State politics.

He also used the platform to defend key economic reforms introduced under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the flotation of the naira, describing both policies as necessary but difficult reforms.

According to him, the policy direction aligns with views he has long supported, noting that similar economic positions had previously been expressed by other political figures, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Omo-Agege stressed that his stance on the policies had not shifted, even though he is now operating from a different political platform.

He argued that governance outcomes could be improved if such policies were implemented with greater public trust and political alignment.

“The APC left me and left my over 240,000 supporters in Delta State,” he said during the broadcast, reiterating his claim of political abandonment.

He added that while the reforms remain challenging for citizens, they are not fundamentally flawed and should be sustained with improved execution.

The comments add further tension to ongoing political realignments in Delta State, where shifting alliances continue to reshape party structures ahead of future elections.
