Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, said Hakeem Baba-Ahmed of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, could emerge as a formidable political force capable of challenging the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Datti Baba Ahmed Hakeem Baba Ahmed PRP threat 2027 remarks came as the former vice-presidential candidate warned that many political actors had underestimated Hakeem Baba-Ahmed’s influence, experience, and organisational capacity within Nigeria’s evolving political space.

Datti stated that the combination of Baba-Ahmed’s background and the PRP’s political platform should not be dismissed, describing him as a seasoned public servant and intellectual with a long record of service in government and policy circles.

“If there is anything that is a threat to Tinubu 2027, it is Dr Hakeem and PRP,” Datti said during the broadcast, adding that the APC may have made what he described as a serious miscalculation in its assessment of emerging opposition figures.

He further emphasised that Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has been widely underestimated, insisting that his reputation is built on years of structured public service rather than political opportunism.

“They have underestimated him. He means business,” Datti said, reinforcing his view that the PRP figure possesses both credibility and intent in the political arena.
