Ife-North Stakeholders Call for Zoning of 2027 House of Reps Ticket

Ife-North 2027 House of Representatives zoning demand intensifies as stakeholders call for APC and Accord Party ticket fairness in Osun State

Stakeholders, youths, students, and union representatives from Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun State have called for the zoning of the 2027 House of Representatives ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Accord Party to the area, insisting on what they described as long-overdue political justice and equitable representation.

The demand was made during a press conference organised by a coalition of Ife-North indigenes both in Nigeria and the diaspora, who alleged sustained political exclusion within the Ife Federal Constituency.

Coalition Chairman, Bolaji Olabode, said the call was not a request but a firm demand rooted in fairness, arguing that Ife-North has remained politically marginalised despite its contributions.

“This is not a plea—it is a demand rooted in justice. Ife-North has waited long enough. Our relevance must go beyond elections into actual representation,” Olabode stated.

Emmanuel Oderinola, another stakeholder, said there is a noticeable imbalance between the area’s contributions and the level of political inclusion it receives, describing the situation as unfair and unsustainable.

He noted that despite its population and electoral strength, the area has not produced a House of Representatives member or secured significant political appointments since its creation in 1989.

Representing student voices, Olalekan Johnson, popularly known as Idera, urged unity among residents, saying collective action was necessary to translate demographic strength into political influence.

Youth leader Babalola Taiwo described the situation as generational marginalisation, arguing that exclusion was systemic rather than based on capacity.

Coalition Secretary, Akinnibi Miftahudeen, emphasised that the demand transcends party lines, insisting that fairness must guide political decisions within the constituency.

Student leader Oluwafemi Oladele, known as Fresh, also said young people were prepared to mobilise if necessary, describing the moment as a turning point for political engagement.

The coalition further demanded immediate zoning of the 2027 House of Representatives ticket to Ife-North and called for a transparent zoning framework across the constituency.

It also urged neighbouring local government areas within the Ife Federal Constituency to support what it termed a push for justice and balanced representation, warning that it would sustain mobilisation until its demands are addressed.
