INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed the date during a world press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, according to the commission.
The publication represents another significant step in preparations for the 2027 general elections, giving political parties and voters a clearer picture of those cleared to contest the state-level elections.
INEC said 21 of the 22 registered political parties submitted candidates for the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
According to the commission, the parties submitted 936 governorship and deputy governorship candidates, alongside 9,692 candidates seeking seats in various State Houses of Assembly.
The electoral body had previously published the personal particulars of nominated candidates as part of the nomination process.
The final list is expected to take account of withdrawals, substitutions and other changes that occurred after the initial submission of candidates.
INEC also said 18 of the 22 registered political parties submitted 36 presidential and vice-presidential candidates, while the final list for the National Assembly was published on September 12, 2026.
The latest announcement comes as political parties move deeper into preparations for the 2027 elections.
INEC’s approved timetable provides for governorship and State House of Assembly elections in March 2027, following the presidential and National Assembly polls.
The commission has also identified 22 political parties on its current register.
With the October 10 publication, attention will shift to the final names appearing on the ballot and any changes arising from the nomination and substitution process.
