ADC Chieftain Rejects Obi Kwankwaso Ticket for 2027 Election Boost

Obi Kwankwaso 2027 presidential ticket dismissed by ADC chieftain Fabiyi Oladimeji, who supports Atiku-Obi pairing for stronger election numbers

Deputy National Financial Secretary of the David Mark-led National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Fabiyi Oladimeji, has dismissed the viability of an Obi Kwankwaso 2027 presidential ticket, arguing that it would not generate sufficient electoral strength to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fabiyi Oladimeji made the remarks while addressing journalists in Abuja, where he insisted that only a combination involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi would give the opposition the numerical advantage needed in the 2027 general election.

According to him, voting patterns from the 2023 presidential election indicate that a pairing of Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi would fall short of the support required to mount a serious challenge against the APC.

“Even Kwankwaso and Obi cannot give us the number, I am sorry to say this. The best number is Atiku and Obi,” Fabiyi said, describing the proposed alternative as mathematically weaker based on previous election results.

He argued that combining the political strengths of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi could significantly alter the electoral balance, claiming that their combined support base in 2023 demonstrated stronger national reach.

Fabiyi further stated that political figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi had expressed willingness to support any candidate that emerges through consensus, urging Peter Obi to adopt a similar stance in the interest of national unity.

“Atiku has said he will support whoever emerges. Amaechi has said the same thing. We are expecting Peter Obi to also make that commitment because this is not about personal ambition; it is about rescuing the country,” he added.
