‘Obi Will Win With or Without You’ – Isaac Fayose Tells Igbos

Isaac Fayose says Peter Obi will win the 2027 election with or without Igbo support, while urging Igbos to back the NDC candidate

Isaac Fayose, businessman and political commentator, has made a strong prediction about the 2027 presidential election, saying Peter Obi will win with or without the support of Igbos.

Fayose made the claim in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, while urging people in the South-East to support Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

He also criticised Igbos who support the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government, describing such supporters in highly critical terms.

“Any Igbo man supporting this APC government is a wicked Igbo man,” Fayose said.

He further compared Obi with the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the former Biafran leader, while arguing that no other Igbo politician in the past four decades had achieved what he believes Obi has accomplished politically.

“When it comes to politics in Igbo land, in the last 40 years, apart from late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, no other Igbo man has done what Peter Obi has done,” he said.

Fayose also directed criticism at Igbos who choose not to support Obi, saying they should recognise what he described as the former Anambra State governor’s political strength.

“Any Igbo man that does not support Peter Obi is a wicked and jealous Igbo man,” he said.

He then made his prediction about the 2027 presidential contest, insisting that Obi would emerge victorious even without support from the Igbo electorate.

“You all should know that with or without you, Obi will still win come January 2027,” Fayose said.

The comments come amid an increasingly active political debate over Obi’s prospects ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Fayose has repeatedly expressed support for Obi in recent months, including challenging claims about the opposition’s strength in Abuja and Rivers State.

His latest remarks also come against the backdrop of competing predictions from other political figures.

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, Isaac Fayose’s elder brother, has separately predicted that President Bola Tinubu would defeat Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2027, even if the two opposition figures were to unite.

The contrasting positions highlight the uncertainty surrounding the next presidential contest, with political actors and commentators offering competing assessments long before voters cast their ballots.

Ultimately, the outcome of the 2027 election will be determined by voters and the official electoral process, rather than predictions made ahead of the poll.
