APC South-West youth leader Adesuyi Daramola urges Oyebanji to prioritise qualified Ekiti youths in his next political appointments
Adesuyi Daramola, the All Progressives Congress South-West Youth Leader, has urged Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji to give greater consideration to qualified young people as he constitutes his next set of political appointees.

Daramola made the appeal in a statement issued by his Media and Publicity Director, Remilekun Oyelowo, in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The call comes ahead of Oyebanji’s inauguration for a second term on October 16, following his victory in the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election.
Daramola said the governor’s second term presents an opportunity to strengthen youth participation in governance and create meaningful openings for capable young Ekiti indigenes to serve in government.
He argued that young people should not be viewed only as future leaders, noting that many already possess the experience, expertise and skills required to contribute to public administration.
“We respectfully appeal to His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to remember the youths of Ekiti State as he constitutes his next team of political appointees,” Daramola said.
“Our young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow; many are already capable contributors to governance today.”
The appeal follows Oyebanji’s recent dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals across the state, alongside the termination of appointments of political appointees ahead of the beginning of his second term.
The changes provide the governor with an opportunity to constitute a new team as his administration enters its next phase.
Daramola said appointing qualified young people would help strengthen their confidence in government and deepen their sense of belonging.
“Providing competent young people with opportunities to serve will inspire our youths, strengthen their confidence in government and demonstrate that the administration values their energy, ideas, expertise and commitment to the development of Ekiti State,” he said.
The APC youth leader also acknowledged the contributions of political appointees who served during Oyebanji’s first term.
He commended the outgoing appointees for their service and contributions to the state, while suggesting that the next phase of the administration could combine fresh perspectives with the institutional knowledge accumulated during the first term.
“The next phase of the administration provides an opportunity to bring in fresh perspectives while retaining the experience and institutional knowledge required for effective governance,” Daramola said.
The call for greater youth representation comes against the backdrop of broader discussions about the participation of young Nigerians in political leadership and public administration.
For Daramola, increased participation should extend beyond political appointments to include continued investment by young people in their own skills and leadership capacity.
He encouraged youths across Ekiti State to continue developing their knowledge, professional skills and leadership abilities so they would be prepared to take advantage of opportunities in public service.
Daramola also argued that greater youth participation could strengthen the relationship between the Ekiti government and the younger generation.
Oyebanji is expected to begin his second term on October 16, with the composition of his next political team likely to be among the issues attracting attention as the administration prepares for the new phase.

The governor’s decisions on appointments will ultimately determine how the administration balances continuity, experience and the inclusion of younger people in government.
