The organisation has issued a rallying cry to Ndigbo, urging them to throw their collective weight behind President Bola Tinubu for his re-election campaign in 2027.

In a statement released on Saturday, co-signed by its convener, John Ikeotuonye, and secretary, Justin Nwankwo, SEPA underscored the strategic disadvantage the South East would face by not supporting the incumbent in the upcoming presidential election.

The group expressed optimism that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” championed by President Tinubu is gradually resonating with the people of the zone, predicting a massive turnout in his favour in 2027.

“The only time to demonstrate that the South East has taken its proper seat in strategic planning and geopolitical renaissance in Nigeria is in the upcoming 2027 election, and the best choice for Ndi-Igbo to make is to unanimously key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” the statement read.

SEPA commended President Tinubu’s “immense courage” in addressing critical issues such as the diversion of funds by state governments and delays in fund remittances.

They also highlighted his vision to enhance local government accountability and development.

The group further called for unity and bridge-building across the South-Eastern states, particularly among young professionals and progressives who are “tired of backroom and armchair politics.”

“We call on young professionals and progressive ambassadors willing to make a difference to join President Bola Tinubu, to reintegrate, reconcile, and reconstruct the South East region to rise and be part of this socio-political movement for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu come 2027,” they urged.

SEPA firmly advised Ndi-Igbo that “2027 must not catch the South-East Region unaware!” stressing the importance of being prepared to align with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” and forge a strategic, progressive alliance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group cited several key indicators demonstrating Tinubu’s commitment to solving the challenges faced by the South East.

These include the establishment of the South East Development Commission, the appointment of a special adviser for community liaison in South East states, key political appointments for individuals from the zone, and recent official visits to all South-Eastern states.

“Following the tide of events, it is evident that President Bola Tinubu has the capacity and will to achieve his promises to Nigeria,” SEPA added, concluding with a vote of confidence: “We believe in Tinubu to restructure and recover the Nigerian state from failure.”
