Wike Says APC Governors Misled Fubara in Rivers Crisis

Nyesom Wike says APC governors misled Siminalayi Fubara in the Rivers crisis and were unhappy he became FCT minister

On Tuesday, 15 September 2026, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike said All Progressives Congress governors had worked against him and had misled Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara during the state’s political crisis.

Nyesom Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain and former Rivers governor, spoke on Arise TV. He said the governors’ grievance began when President Bola Tinubu named him FCT minister, not in the latest 2027 argument.

“All these things you are seeing didn’t start today; it started with the ministerial position. They are not happy that I was given Minister of FCT,” Nyesom Wike said.

He alleged that the same governors used the split between him and Siminalayi Fubara, passing on information that made the rift worse.

He also said that interference hurt Siminalayi Fubara’s chance of a second term. “During the crisis with my Governor, they misled my governor. They couldn’t give the governor a second term.”

Nyesom Wike did not name any APC governor or spell out the messages he said were passed to Government House, Port Harcourt. The governors have not answered those specific lines in this account.

The remarks add another public layer to a long Rivers quarrel that already pits the minister against the man who succeeded him.
